WEEK 3:  M1935 Quist Pattern 64cm Double Decal Waffen-SS Combat Helmet

This M1935 early patterned double decal Waffen-SS combat helmet shows the same construction features and characteristics as the 62cm Quist factory produced M35 army helmet featured during Week 2.  The helmet has the same smooth finished paint and liner retaining rivets as the 62cm version displayed last week.  Both helmets were likely produced in the same general time period.  This particular Waffen-SS helmet was purchased several years ago from an estate where an elderly woman had it sitting outdoors on a table during a weekend yard sale in Atlanta, Georgia.  At the end of the weekend no one had purchased the helmet and a neighbor who had been helping the woman volunteered to help her sell it on the web.  A few weeks later it was purchased for display on  The helmet features the classic Quist pattern Waffen-SS helmet decals unique only to this helmet manufacturer.  Despite what some collectors may believe, Waffen-SS helmets are still sitting in attics and basements just waiting to be found.  This helmet is testimony to that fact.
